Stream to KLıC

Two short guides. The organizer sets up the broadcast and brings people in. Each player sets up OBS and goes live.

For the organizer

You create the broadcast and decide who's in it.

  1. Turn on monetization (once)

To create a broadcast that streams on KLıC, your account needs monetization on. Click Start Earning at the top of the site, or go to Dashboard → Earnings, and finish setup. You only do this once. Broadcasts that only embed Twitch, Kick or YouTube don't need it.

  2. Create the broadcast

Click Create Broadcast (top right). Fill in Broadcast Name, Description, Broadcast Date, Start Time and End Time, Category, and a thumbnail.

  3. Pick KLıC as the source type

Under Sources, choose the KLıC logo (not the Twitch/Kick/YouTube embed). Turn on Add my channel if you're streaming too.

  4. Bring in your players, one of three ways

Invite In the Invite tab, search each player's KLıC username and add them. They get an invitation to accept.

Join link Turn on Create join link. After scheduling, send the link to your players. Each one requests to join and you approve them.

Stream keys In the Stream Keys tab, add device keys for extra PCs, consoles or cameras you run yourself.

  5. Schedule it

Press Schedule Broadcast and confirm. If something's wrong, the page tells you exactly what, like a player who's already booked at that time.

  6. Share the two links

In Broadcast Manager, send the broadcast link to viewers and the join link to players. Then approve join requests as they come in. You get a notification for each one.

  7. Send your players the player guide

Before the broadcast, make sure every player has done a test stream (player guide, step 4).

For players

You were invited to a broadcast, or got a join link. About 10 minutes, once.

Players don't need monetization. If you're invited to stream in someone else's broadcast, you don't turn on Start Earning. Only the person creating the broadcast does.
  1. Get in the broadcast

Invited: accept the invitation from your notifications (or email). Join link: open it while signed in and request to join. You're in once the organizer approves.

  2. Copy your server and key

Go to Dashboard → Stream Keys. Use the RTMPS server for OBS. Use RTMP only for devices that can't do RTMPS, like DJI drones. Your key is the channel default key under Your stream keys: reveal it with the eye and copy it. Never show it on stream. If it leaks, press rotate.

    Server (OBS and most encoders)rtmps://global-live.mux.com:443/app
Server (DJI drones, devices without RTMPS)rtmp://global-live.mux.com:5222/app
  3. Set up OBS

Settings → Stream: Service Custom…, paste the server into Server and only the key into Stream Key. Then Settings → Output (Advanced):

    SettingValue
    EncoderNVENC H.264, Apple VT H.264, or x264. H.264 only.
    Rate controlCBR
    Bitrate6000 Kbps for 1080p60 · 4500 Kbps for 1080p30 or 720p60
    Keyframe interval2 s
    ResolutionUp to 1920×1080
    AudioAAC, 160 Kbps, 48 kHz
  4. Do a test stream

Press Start Streaming in OBS. On Stream Keys, click the key you're streaming to. The preview on the right shows your feed in about 10 seconds. The preview only shows the selected key, so if it says OFFLINE, check which key is selected first.

  5. Go live at broadcast time

Start streaming a few minutes before the start time. Your feed shows up in the broadcast automatically.

Already streaming to Twitch or YouTube? Add KLıC as a second output with the Multiple RTMP outputs plugin (or Restream / Aitum Multistream), using the server and key above. Make sure your upload speed covers both bitrates combined.

Preview says OFFLINE?

  • Wrong key selected. The preview follows the key you clicked. Click the key you're actually streaming to.
  • Whole URL in the key box. The server goes in Server and the key goes in Stream Key.
  • Old key. If the key was rotated, copy the new one into OBS.
  • RTMPS blocked. Try the RTMP server instead.
  • Dropped for over a minute. KLıC waits 60 seconds for a reconnect. After that, starting again begins a new stream.
  • OBS stuck on "Connecting…". Remove any spaces around the key, and check a firewall isn't blocking port 443 (RTMPS) or 5222 (RTMP).

Stream from your phone

The KLıC Live app streams straight from your phone. No OBS and no stream key to copy.

  1. Get the app

Download KLıC Live from the App Store or Google Play, and sign in with your KLıC account.

Download on the App StoreGet it on Google Play
  2. Go live on your own channel

Two ways, same as on the website:

Stream now Go live right away on your channel. Nothing to set up first.

Create a broadcast Schedule it for later, with a name, date and thumbnail.

Stream now and Create a broadcast both need monetization turned on (once): tap Start Earning, or see step 1 of the organizer guide. Joining someone else's broadcast doesn't need it.
  3. Join someone else's broadcast

If an organizer invited you, accept the invitation in the app's notifications. If they sent a join link, open it on your phone and request to join. Once you're in, go live from the app and your feed shows up in their broadcast.

  4. Before you go live

Use Wi-Fi or a strong 5G/LTE signal, keep your phone plugged in, and turn on Do Not Disturb so calls and notifications don't interrupt the stream.

Still stuck? Email with your KLıC username, which key you used, and a screenshot of OBS → Settings → Stream.
